SOUL is currently seeking a new Executive Director

Our executive director is in the process of downsizing her commitments and has expressed her intention to move away from her current roll. We are seeking someone to take over the responsibilities of Executive Director in a open-ended contract position.

Leadership & Management

  • Oversee existing projects, including the Greener Greenspace recognition program, updates to the Organic Land Care Standard and various membership engagement activities (primarily online at this time).
  • Manage one part-time co-worker.
  • Produce, or oversee the production of, communication materials and ensure consistency in messaging tone, content and quality.
  • Support and assist in the maintenance of a strong Board of Directors and participate in board and committee meetings.

Fundraising & Communications

  • Oversee fundraising applications and activities and the evaluation and assessment of the outcomes of those activities.
  • Cultivate and renew relationships with partner and related organizations and work toward active co-promotion of existing activities and identifying possible collaborations for future activities.
  • Maintain, or oversee the maintenance of, the SOUL website and online resource library.
  • Maintain and expand social media engagement, leveraging the resources that have been developed and incorporated into the SOUL website in recent years.

Planning & New Business

  • Report to and take direction from the board. Implement projects based on board priorities.
  • Build off of the momentum created by recently launched projects and resources to expand awareness of Organic Urban Land Care and increase SOUL membership.
  • Identify and develop new approaches for expanding awareness and membership of SOUL
  • Work with the SOUL board and committees to develop a social equity plan and statement and to review existing SOUL materials for unintended biases and opportunities for improvement.

Administrative Activities

  • Manage SOUL finances, including entries in bookkeeping software and issuing payments to staff
  • Review invoices
  • Prepare reports for board meetings
  • Prepare and send quarterly newsletter to SOUL’s members and contacts

Additional Details

  • Commitment: 15 to 30 hours per month (can vary seasonally and to suit your schedule)
  • Compensation: $40 per hour
  • This is an independent contractor position that can be fulfilled remotely. Board and committee meetings are held virtually.
  • Start date is flexible but must be by February 2023
